Maple-class

Maple Class

Our year two class is taught by Mrs Rigby with Mrs Jackson as teaching assistant.

Autumn Term 2017

Maple Class have had a busy term so far.  They went to a sports festival at the Blue School and met lots of children from other schools. In English, they have been writing our own firework poems using lots of adjectives. In history, Maple class learned a lot from special visitors who told us all about life in the Royal Air Force and Navy a long time ago, helping them to understand why we wear poppies. They went to St Cuthbert’s Church to lay a special wreath they had made and to have a minute’s silence. Maple class also visited the special poppy trail inside the church looking at a real soldier’s helmet and all different kinds of poppies. They had great fun dressing up for Children in Need Day and they learned all about the charity and the ways in which they help people. In maths Maple class have been working hard adding and subtracting numbers and learning how to estimate, measure and weigh items accurately. They are now looking forward to learning how to multiply and divide. Christmas preparations have started and they are learning lots of special songs for our show, ‘It’s a Cracker’.
